What is Skýming?
For centuries, Faroese people have gathered in the evenings to knit, share stories, and enjoy a cup of tea and homemade food together. Skýming invites you to join this cozy tradition and experience Faroese culture in a warm and authentic way.

Is food included?
Yes, we will serve local treats like rhubarb cake, góðaráð (girdle cakes) and rullupylsa (rolled seasoned meat) as well as coffee and tea.

Do I need to know how to knit?
Everyone is welcome — from beginners to experienced knitters. Elin and Gunnvá will be happy to teach beginners the basics of knitting.

How long does an evening of Skýming last?
An evening of Skýming lasts for 3 hours from 8 to 11 pm. If you have to leave early, that is no problem.

Where does Skýming take place?
Skýming takes place in local homes near the city centre of Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. After booking, you will receive an email with the exact address.

What should I bring?
You will receive a gift bag with yarn, needles, and a knitting pattern, so there is no need to bring your own supplies. If you prefer, you are welcome to work on your own needlework instead.
